Solar Cooker Projects
Bring clean energy to the poor

Hundreds of thousands people benefited
Millions of tons of CO2 reduced

Our solar cooker projects involved installing solar cookers for poor rural farmers in remote areas of China to replace coal for cooking and hot water needs, which considerably reduced the expenses on purchasing coal and improved the indoor air quality by avoiding coal smoke. So far our projects have benefited hundreds of thousands low-income rural people and generated several million high-quality carbon credits.

Because of their significant social and environmental value, our projects attracted prestigious parties as project participant and carbon credit buyer. The following are some examples:

Moreover, our projects are featured on the cover page of the official reports of ADB and UNFCCC (Click here for more details), which clearly demonstrated the significant impact of our projects.
How solar cooker projects contributed to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG)?

How solar cooker projects contributed to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG)?

Our solar cooker projects have made significant contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) by helping achieve 10 out of the 17 UNSDGs as explained below:

UNSDG - 1. No Poverty

UNSDG - 1. No Poverty

By using the solar cookers provided by our projects, the expenditure on purchasing coal was reduced, which is equivalent to the increase of income of poor rural residents and the reduction of poverty.

UNSDG - 2. Zero Hunger

UNSDG - 2. Zero Hunger

The project enables the rural household to frequently heat up water and food in a convenient way at no cost, which meets the frequent heating need of vulnerable people and consequently improves their access to safe and nutrient water and food and help end their malnutrition.

UNSDG - 3. Good Health and Well-being

UNSDG - 3. Good Health and Well-being

The old coal-fired cook stove generated smoke which is harmful to health. The project reduced the consumption of coal and consequently reduced the smoke from coal. Thus, it improves the air quality and the health of poor rural residents in project area.

UNSDG - 4. Quality Education

UNSDG - 4. Quality Education

The project will provide training on solar energy, the working principles of solar cookers and how to use solar cookers properly, to the users of the solar cooker, which consist of both women and men. Therefore, it ensures equal access for women and men to affordable and quality technical education.

UNSDG - 5. Gender Equality

UNSDG - 5. Gender Equality

Using coal stove involves a lot of work on handling the coal, such as purchasing coal, getting coal to home, storing coal, breaking the coal, igniting the coal, and cleaning the coal ashes and dust, etc. These work were mostly done by women in the households. The use of solar cooker saved households, especially women, considerable time that would have been used for handling the coal.

UNSDG - 6. Clean Water and Sanitation

UNSDG - 6. Clean Water and Sanitation

Heating up water is a simple and practical way to produce clean and sanitized water to underdeveloped regions where other ways of cleaning water is unavailable. This project provided an convenient way to heat up water at no cost and therefore improved the local households' access to safe and affordable drinking water.

UNSDG - 7. Affordable and Clean Energy

UNSDG - 7. Affordable and Clean Energy

The solar cooker provided the poor rural residents an affordable and practical way to utilize solar energy which they would not have afforded otherwise.

UNSDG - 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth

UNSDG - 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth

The project creates employment opportunities for the local communities, including women and men, through project implementation, monitoring, and maintenance.

UNSDG - 10. Reduced Inequalities

UNSDG - 10. Reduced Inequalities

By using the solar cookers provided by our projects, the expenditure on purchasing coal was reduced, which is equivalent to the increase of income of poor rural residents and the reduction of income inequality.

UNSDG - 13. Climate Action

UNSDG - 13. Climate Action

Our solar cooker project portfolio is one of the largest community usage of solar energy in remote rural areas. It reduced the emissions generated by burning coal, brought awareness of climate change in rural communities, and involved rural communities in the action to reverse the climate crisis.
